UNTOLD is the project of London’s Jack Dunning who made kinetic, rapturous, near-perfect post-dubstep and bass on his Hemlock Recordings label before making a hard left turn toward brutalistic noise and electronic antagonism on last year’s amazing Black Light Special album. This is nasty, dense and thrilling new music.
EGYPTRIXX, the Toronto producer Dave Psutka, also recently abandoned his dance floor past for something much more sinister, throwing, as RBMA writes, “techno, shoegaze and abstract bass in a cauldron, producing thick swathes of mystical fog that blur the portal between the dancefloor and the sensory deprivation chamber.” His love of black metal and his disturbing seven-hour drone mix for FACT lays bare where his heart truly lies.
TESSELA, the project of UK’s Ed Russell, slams together hardcore and breakbeat in sybaritic shapes.
